Tjålmträsk gold exploration project
The exploration permits, Tjålmträsk no. 1-8 and Lillberget no. 1, are located south, southwest, east and southeast of Sorsele. Several separate target areas have been delineated within the area with arsenopyrite- mineralized boulders, which carry both high and low grades of gold.
One of these boulders were analyzed and results showed 350 grams of gold per ton and received the first price of Mineraljakten ("The Mineral Hunt Competition") in year 2000. Geophysical surveys were carried out on Tjålmträsk no. 1 during fall 2003, and was followed up with deep till and bedrock chip sampling in widely spaced profiles in 2004. One area was discovered, which was interpreted as being part of the mother lode for a number of gold mineralized boulders. Systematic exploration with boulder tracing, mapping, geophysics, geochemistry and excavation were carried out during 2005 and 2006 in Tjålmträsk-Krutträsk, Stensundsberget, Röberget Norra, Röberget Östra-Vorpåive, Inre Nammestjärn and Stridsmark. Percussion drilling was carried out in Stensundsberget in 2005 and diamond drilling in Tjålmträsk late winter 2005. Arsenopyrite with low grades of gold has been found during the excavations as well as zinc, lead and copper mineralizations.
Deep till and bedrock chip sampling have been carried out in Tjålmträsk-Krutträsk area during the winter and late winter 2007 indicating arsenic-antimony anomalies in till and bedrock. Follow-up diamond drilling with 9 drill holes and 1,190 m within two areas intersected arsenopyrite with low gold values in silicified meta-greywacke and volcanics.
