Infrastructure in an international mining perspective
A substantial portion of gold projects around the world is situated in areas with little or no infrastructure. This is causing extra costs and insecurity around the projects.
In this context it also needs to be mentioned that softer questions like legal framework, taxes, political stability, corruptions etc should be considered. It is not uncommon for larger projects with investments costs of more than a billon crowns for roads, water, electrical power etc.
The Gold Line in Västerbotten and particularly Fäboliden is in an area within commuting distance to the municipalities of Lycksele, Storuman and Vilhelmina.
A couple of kilometres from Fäboliden there is a mayor paved national road of good standing as well as two power lines supplying the area. All areas where the company is focusing are covered with a network of forest roads that is enhancing exploration and development.

The picture shows the infrastructure in the area around Fäboliden. The distance between Fäboliden and Lycksele is approximately 40 km. Click to enlarge
