Glossary
Anomalies
Deviating from the norm - in this case referring to raised gold grades.
Arsenopyrite
Mineral with the chemical formula FeAsS.
Bedrock
The surface bedrock.
Boulder tracing
A traditional exploration method.
Boulder trail
Loose stones which the inland ice has torn loose and transported in the direction of the ice flow.
Deposit
An indication of an economic mineralization.
Diabase
Basic dike.
Diamond drilling
Exploration method where one retrieves core samples; also called core-drilling.
Dip
The angle for strike of layering, faults, shearing etc.
Doré-bars
Unrefined bars, normally containing gold and silver.
Environmental Code
The law that regulates all types of impact on the environment.
Environmental impact study
Analysis of the impact a mining operation would have on the environment.
Exploration
Searching for ores using various methods for example boulder tracing, geochemistry, geophysics etc.
Exploitation Concession
Permit to mine a deposit.
Fault
Tectonic displacement of rock volumes .
Feasibility study
A study of profitability. A study to determine whether the project is possible to carry out. It is sufficiently detailed and precise to serve as a basis for investment decisions.
Fäboliden/Fäbodliden
On maps and in official documents the name "Fäbodliden" is used. The local population, however, have always used the name "Fäboliden", which is also the name the company has chosen to use.
Geophysics
Geophysics, the study of the earth's physical characteristics. Magnetic and electrical measurements as well as gravimetry are some of the geophysical methods used in exploration.
Geochemistry
Geochemistry, the study of the chemical composition of earth and its distribution of elements. Moraine, humus and deep moraine sampling are some of the geochemical methods used in exploration.
Indicated mineral resource
The part of the mineral resource that has a lesser degree of geological knowledge and
Inferred mineral resource
The part of the mineral resource that has a low degree of geological knowledge and reliability. Inferred mineral resource may not be included with ore reserves or with measured and indicated resources, and furthermore may not be used as a basis for financial estimations.
Measured mineral resource
The part of the mineral resource that has a high degree of geological knowledge and reliability.
Mineral resource
The part of the mineralization where its quantity, grade, specific gravity, form and physical properties are known through drilling and analyses and which permits a satisfactory interpretation of the geological picture for the mineralization to be continuous (uninterrupted). The mineral resource has to fulfill reasonable requirements of being economically extractable. An estimation of the measured and indicated mineral resource is sufficient to serve as a basis for a preliminary profitability study and can be used as a foundation for significant development and establishment decisions.
Mineralization
Concentration of minerals in the bedrock.
Minerals Act
The law that regulates exploration and extraction of minerals and metals.
Mother lode
When doing boulder tracing, the boulders transported by the ice are traced to the source, the "Mother Lode".
Ore
Older concept which means that a deposit is economically mineable, now called ore reserve.
Ore reserve
An ore reserve is that part of a mineral resource where economically feasible extraction has been shown through at least a pre-feasibility study.
Proven ore reserve
The part of the ore reserve that has a high degree of geological knowledge and reliability.
Probable ore reserve
The part of the ore reserve that has a lesser degree of geological knowledge and reliability.
Pyrrhotite
Magnetic mineral with the chemical formula FeS.
Pre-feasibility study
Preliminary feasibility study. A profi tability study, but of a lower level of detail and precision than a full feasibility study.
Profile
Cross-, length- or horizontal section.
RC-drill hole
Reverse Circulation, drilling method used to produce rock chip for identification and assays.
Rift zone
Rift in the earth's crust, area of spreading according to tectonic plate theory.
SGU
Sveriges geologiska undersökning.(Geological Survey of Sweden)
Sulfide ore
Mineable concentration of sulphide minerals, primarily copper, zinc and lead.
Tectonic
Tectonic movements in the earth's crust resulting in cracks, faults, folds and thrusts.
Troy ounce
Tr.oz .= 31.1035 grams, the unit of weight for precious metals. (Swedish = uns).
