Environmental Policy

The policy of Lappland Goldminers AB is to limit the impact of exploration and mining on nature and the environment.

From the company's goal and strategy:

...The company shall in its work respect the environment while being a profitable vehicle for the region by creating jobs and services in a large sparsely populated region.

Methodology

  • The company intends to use the most efficient economical techniques to minimize the effects of exploration and mining on the environment for the final restoration.
  • The company is working constantly to develop techniques and solutions with experts, who are familiar with local conditions, and is in continuous consultation with interested parties and authorities involved.
  • According to the law, the company is responsible for all costs for restoration of the area where work has been carried out.

To develop the best methods to respect the environment, the company has employed consultants who are world renowned for their expertise in the field. All the activities are planned in such a way that the impact on the environment is at a minimum during the entire operation, including the phase of reclamation.

Environment inventories

The area which will be occupied by the mine and plants along with the area surrounding it, have been surveyed from an environmental perspective. Inventorying is an excellent tool to use in order to preserve valuable areas, to follow eventual influences, as well as for documentation of the situation before, during, and after the operations. The inventories are carried out by consultants using efficient and effective scientific methods.

Our prospectors (founders of the company), Eric Sjölund, Torbjörn Grahn and Jan-Åke Unée receive the award as "Wild Men of Year 2002".

The founders of the company have used their hobby, i.e. "nature lovers", to search for ore deposits. A genuine interest in nature is the guarantee for that the company operates in ways to protect the environment.

Exploration drilling is carried out with modern equipment with low ground pressure to limit damage to the ground.

All phases of our activities must be handled in a responsible way. For the period of exploration, only "environmentally friendly" equipment and oils are used. In especially sensitive wet areas, drilling is carried out in frozen ground conditions, or with equipment with very low ground pressure.

Exploration work is carried out after consultation with landlords, county administrators and the local authorities.
